Manage family and friends computers locally from my computer running Windows 7 64-bit?

I am away from home, and am known as the "computer guy" among friends and family. Instead of having to go to their house all the time, or bringing their computer to my house over night, I was wondering if there was a convenient way for me to Remote Desktop into their device and troubleshoot from there.

I don't want to use Remote Desktop though, as it is not very user friendly for my technically illiterate friends, and they can't see what I'm doing in real time on their computer.

If anyone knows of a convenient way to do this, or if it is even possible, please let me know. I would be a life saver to many of my friends and family!

Perfect, that did answer my question. Thank you. Team Viewer it is! – user1028641 – 2013-09-21T22:03:15.603

1Another vote for TeamViewer, from one that has done remote support by plain phone (blind), NetMeeting and VNC over modem, VNC over ADSL (if I could configure NAT'ing) etc. - Until TeamViewer finally arrived. It works so well and is so amazingly simple to use! – abstrask – 2013-09-21T22:46:36.573

i would recommend logmein, you don't need them to give you a password everytime – Sickest – 2013-09-21T23:39:17.457
