I've tried to add a PCI Express card to be able to plug eSATA hard drives to my home server (running Proxmox).
Everything is plugged but I'm stuck.
- Is there any thing to do to setup the PCI card ?
- What device identifier is supposed to be behind the eSATA port ? (I've tried
smartctl -iwith sda, sda1 and sda2)
Any help is welcome.

2Which eSATA PCI-e card did use use. Which chipset does it have. Which driver does it use? Is the driver getting loaded? What is the output of pciconf or lspci? ... – Hennes – 2013-09-01T17:27:04.357

You do not seem to be the only one with problems with that card. E.g. see this link where it only worked after disabling pci-passthrough. Another post mentions that is only works after disabling passthrough on the ICH (and its internal SATA). What is going on here is unclear to me. Hopefully someone can shed some light on it.
