I searched for answers for this and tried the option of uninstalling the driver, turning the computer off and restarting... that didn't fix the problem. Any other ideas or should I just buy another mouse?

@duDE: The emoticon doesn't really mitigate the unnecessary hostility in your remark. Also, if it were the batteries wouldn't the mouse as a whole be affected, rather than just the scroll wheel?
