Windows media player has taken over my laptop. When I turn it on, the program comes on and no matter what I select. Windows media player open and runs. Is there a fix for this problem?

When did this problem start appearing? Have you tried shutting it down and powering it on again? Or are you just using hibernation? – Samir – 2013-05-22T19:58:04.413

If you boot into safe mode does the problem persist? What troubleshooting have you attempted thus far? – Will.Beninger – 2013-05-22T20:23:17.430

Search for a tutorial on how to use msconfig, then disable WMP from the Startup tab. If it's not visible there report back and we can look at other solutions. Also ensure it's really WMP and not some sort of malware. – Karan – 2013-05-22T22:37:25.870
