WIN7 media play facility disabled by installation of Skype

1

I have been using Skype for some time successfully, but it just stopped, even the call test facility was disabled. On investigation I found that media play via WinMedia, MediaMonkey and Itunes didn't work.

After much investigation the problem appeared to be in the Audio mixer area. Solution: uninstall Skype, reboot and presto all applcations work OK. I reinstalled Skype (versions 4, 5, and 6) with the same results...audio playback ability just disappeared.

I noticed in the audio mixer display that volume controls for other application (eg Yahoo Messenger) are sometimes shown, sometimes not.

Where do i go from here...I have friends on Skype and need it or an alternative that can interface, or i need to repair the mixer system - trying to rstart it times out with a 'no response' message.

Thanx for any help.
