Undo an “rm -rf ~” command?

By mistake i removed my files from solaris machine.

i ran rm -rf command in my root folder

rm -rf

It deleted folders /bin, /dev etc..

How to recover those deleted files. I didn't keep any backup of these files.

Thought to copy it from other machines. But scp is not working

Wow, This will be one mammoth answer. – squareborg – 2012-10-29T14:03:12.047

Solaris is not Linux and uses ZFS by default on recent releases which opens some specific answers, although I won't be that optimistic. See http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_forensics_scrollback_script for example. This question is not an exact duplicate of http://superuser.com/questions/279733/undo-an-rm-rf-command
