1Are you sure it's stuck? It takes time to hash all files, if you add a huge directory. – user1686 – 2012-06-09T09:02:02.743

1When you get started to face this? Have you tried with older version of utorrent? – avirk – 2012-06-09T09:39:06.387

1As I think there are a lots of bug with every new release of utorrent so I always keep old one with me to go back and check out for that. Going to post it as answer glad that its helped you. – avirk – 2012-06-09T10:08:41.737

Yeah, it got stuck in another place now. About 2 thirds. :( – ChristianM – 2012-06-09T10:13:06.113

Still stuck? I will recommend you to uninstall other bittorrent client using revouninstaller.

Yes, I always do a clean and complete uninstall with Revo. Best software for that. But the thing that it does the same thing with another client and with other versions, makes me wonder what could be from windows that could interfere with uTorrent. – ChristianM – 2012-06-09T10:42:31.027

Next time mention me with @ and follow my user name. I mean to said that just install only old version of utorrent not any other bittorrent client and see if it resolve the issue. Also you can restore your windows at good known restore point where utorrrent was working. – avirk – 2012-06-09T10:47:03.000

I have just created and saved a torrent of 400 mb with utorrent version 3.1.3 build 27120 successfully. – avirk – 2012-06-09T11:19:45.490

@avirk I did a clean uninstall of everything I have related to torrents. Downloaded a portable version and it gets stuck as in the screen. I'm out of ideas.. :( – ChristianM – 2012-06-09T12:07:16.800

@avirk: I think I found the problem: http://i.imgur.com/2KX5m.png What do I do now?

Then unfortunately its the time to take a new HDD or SSD whatever you prefer and backup all your data using testdisk

I would agree with Grawity that it is probably just taking its time...

If however you are convinced it is frozen, I would suggest taking it out of that root directory and just renaming/copying to a folder called temp and just make sure there are only English characters... it is possible it doesn't like one of those symbols in the name.

(I don't think it is this, but, this is all I could think of as I have never seen this error before...)

Tried that and it gets stuck at the same point. Trust me, it is stuck. I've left it a whole day. I've done 140 GB torrents before and it didn't take that long and never got stuck. I don't know what changed.. just the version of uTorrent i guess. But that doesn't explain why it did the same thing with another client. It's weird. I don't know what program could stop it like this. – ChristianM – 2012-06-09T09:31:04.543

You sure the source files are not corrupt? – Moab – 2012-06-09T15:44:42.740

I was having the exact same problem as OP although my torrent was getting stuck around the 80% mark. There were no foreign characters, no hidden files, no Mac only files, etc.

The solution was moving the files to another hard drive and creating a new torrent from this new directory. I then set the new torrent's destination back to the original directory, forced a re-check, and it's seeding without errors.
