I've been trying to install Visual Studio on my MacBook pro with Parallels and a fresh install of Windows 7, but I keep getting an error. The program fails right at the beginning (with HRESULT -2147467259 if that helps anyone). From what I've read here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841703, it seems like it's a permissions issue, but even when I take ownership of the Microsoft.NET folder and put full control for SYSTEM and my user accounts (read only for all the files and folders within, however), it still doesn't work.
I'm not as familiar with Windows as I was 10 years ago and obviously it's advanced a whole lot since then, so is there a permissions issue I'm not seeing or am I missing something else? Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?
Does the Windows account you are using to install have administrator privileges? – Sean Kearon – 2012-05-11T06:19:31.630
Yes, I checked on that too, and I'm an administrator. – Charles Forster – 2012-05-14T13:04:56.833
