On my Dell Studio XPS 16, there are digital buttons which control wireless (on & off), volume (up & down), mute, eject, etc.
Currently, these digital buttons become glitchy and get triggered even though I didn't touch it at all. Because of this, sometimes it mutes itself, randomly adjusts the sound, and turns off the wireless connection.
I don't want to go to the service center to fix the buttons since it will cost me (my warranty is over).
Can I disable these buttons through software? I am using Windows 7.
Not an answer to your actual question, but I had exactly the same issue, and it turned out to be a hardware problem. I was under warranty, and dell replaced the palmrest (the entire plastic facade including the media buttons). You might be able to buy the part second-hand? I never found a way to disable these. – Geoff – 2012-04-27T13:18:12.563

Sorry - someone might still have an answer about disabling the buttons through software, though – Geoff – 2012-04-27T14:49:56.927
