I will be working remotely from India during my vacation there and am looking to get an internet setup there that will allow me to work from India when needed. However the internet connection speed in India arent that great. So i was wondering what connection speeds could I get away with.
I know they have 512kbps connection and up. But just wondering what I would need for a good connection.
+1 beat me to it. As I like to say "Latency is the new bandwith". I'd personally want to be under 200ms, but meh. – James T Snell – 2011-07-07T17:36:14.487
I wouldn't worry about bandwidth. I RDP over a tethered cellphone with 300K with little problem. Well besides the initial logon screen where it has to draw EVERY line. After that, you are golden. – surfasb – 2011-07-07T17:37:55.890
@Phoenix I totally agree, I'd prefer to be under 200ms as well, but 500ms will still be pretty usable. Over that will begin to test patients ;) – Nate – 2011-07-07T19:31:50.673
200ms is still a little high. Your first hop should be 50-100ms, anything after that is unfortunately not in your control. – MaQleod – 2011-08-13T17:06:21.480
