Problems importing pictures from Panasonic Lumix FZ28 into my computer

0

I have been unable to transfer pictures from my camera to my laptop as the SD card is stuck and I cannot get it out. I don't want to force the SD card out so as not to destroy data. However, I have tried using the USB cable that came with the camera to transfer pictures, but whenever I connect the camersa to the PC, all I get is a message on the camera screen saying 'Connecting to PC' without there appearing to be any real connection. I am using Windows Vista on my PC. I have also tried to transfer to another PC with Windows 7, but no luck either. Any help out there? Many thanks.

Maybe you need a special software to access your camera. Most cameras are recognized as external storage (like an USB flash drive) and you can access them via the windows explorer where it is shown with its own drive letter. But some cameras don’t give you this method of easy access to your data and require special software that is bundled with your camera normally (this was the case for my very very old Olympus camera 15 years ago). – erik – 2013-03-11T14:48:07.037

Make sure the camera is on and after you see the connecting message open My Computer or Computer and see if there's a new drive. If there is, then you should be able to Open or Explore it and in one of the folders on you'll find your pictures. – martineau – 2011-01-27T13:24:30.340

The camera is on- which is why it gives a message saying 'connecting to PC'. I think the PC is not picking up the camera properly, but I cannot figure out why. – Ose – 2011-01-27T15:14:49.840
