Error mounting NTFS volume on Fedora 14

0

Suddenly I cannot access the NTFS drive of my computer (which hosts Windows Vista and many of my documents from Fedora 14). I get this error

Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 1: helper failed with: mount: only root can mount /dev/sda1 on /media/ACER

It has been working troublelessly since the initial installation of Fedora 12, and has failed with no known change.

I've tried to become root, su... as the message point, but the error persists.

I've browsed thorough manuals, blogs and FAQs but I get no solution.

Any ideas I could try further?

Windows boots and works "properly" (keeping in mind is Window$ 8)))

Thanks for your help!

Your logs say...? – Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams – 2010-12-14T19:01:35.027

Copy-paste the exact command(s) you typed as well as the exact error message. Do you have an entry for /dev/sda1 in /etc/fstab? Try su -c 'mount /dev/sda1 /media/ACER' or sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/ACER (depending on how you can gain root). What is the output of fdisk -l /dev/sda and file -s /dev/sda1 (both as root)? – Gilles 'SO- stop being evil' – 2010-12-14T23:53:41.560
