I will soon be attending a web course.

Is there any application that can record the video and audio being outputted to my screen?

My goal is to record the class so I can watch it later.

Windows platforms preferred.

FRAPS works pretty well, and also can capture your desktop (if you enable it to work with DWM). – Breakthrough – 2011-12-19T10:38:47.967

Camtasia is a great software for this, it is not free but there is a 30 day trial.

Camstudio is not as polished, but an open source, and free software to use.

I tried Camstudio, I do not think it allows you to record audio. – CT. – 2010-06-24T13:26:53.873

@CT It does. Go into Options and check Record Audio from microphone or speakers depending on what you wish to capture. – Joe Taylor – 2011-03-20T09:08:14.870

I have used and also recommend Camtasia. Very mature and full featured product. – myopic.bones – 2011-07-27T03:56:19.020

For long session recording, you could use Camstudio with H.264 or Xvid codec.

You could try http://www.screentoaster.com/

(not used yet, but looks powerful, multi-platform, and is free)

Web site and twitter feed for ScreenToaster both appear to be abandoned. – Larry Silverman – 2012-07-06T14:01:42.693

And now it's gone - error 403 when opening the link... – Magnetic_dud – 2012-12-08T22:01:02.060
