My LSI 9305 HBA uses the FreeBSD mpr
driver. This type of card is well known to run extremely hot as it's designed for forced cooling; in a desktop case it usually needs an extra fan.
During sustained disk activity, I've had the system panic and shut down because of overheat detected by the driver, which displays a temperature on the console and panic
s at 110C. So the driver clearly can read the temperature.
I've added fans onto the heatsink, and I'd like to monitor the temp to check what I've achieved, rather than assume it's okay. But I can't find a command or utility that exposes that data. The standard command for managing this card/driver on FreeBSD is mprutil
but that doesn't.
How can I monitor the mpr device temperature?
Thanks!
