connect a wired TV box to internet through a linux PC

I have an Amino Aria 7X TV box. This device does not support WIFI. It can access internet if I connect it with an ethernet cable to a TP-link access point in client mode, which is connected to my wireless router. However the connection is too slow for some reason. Indeed I unplugged the TV box and replaced it by a computer. The computer is connected to internet but the download/upload rates are much slower than when I connect my computer to the router directly via WIFI.

Then I tried to connect the same computer to a linux PC via the same ethernet cable. The linux PC was set to share internet connection and was connected to the router by WIFI. Download/upload speed was as fast as my ISP can deliver. I thought, aha, let us now connect the TV box with the same ethernet cable to the linux PC and the latter will provide fast internet access to the TV box. But unfortunately that did not work. I did not get any connection to internet, and the ethernet socket LED on the linux PC was orange. I do not understand why it won't work. Do I need to set the linux PC in a special way?
