USB xHCI Controller Host won't start Code 10: An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function + USB failures

It's been happening since i changed all my hardware including motherboard. I've tried reinstalling the driver through Device Manager but it won't work.

Another issue that happens is that my Wi-Fi adapter will stop working everytime i start a game, no matter which one and will stay like that until i close it. I'm also having issues where i can't plug my headphones into one of the USB 3.0 ports and my kbm fails intermittently while in game.

I'm not sure what the cause of that error in the title is, but if the xHCI controller isn't working, all of your USB ports are likely running in a legacy USB 2.0 mode. All of the weird USB problems sound like they stem from the malfunctioning xHCI controller. Have you installed the latest H310 chipset drivers from the Intel website? Is "XHCI Hand-off" enabled in your BIOS?

I've got all the latest motherboard drivers, i can reinstall them if you want. XHCI hand off is disabled, although i've enabled it and it made no difference. – Gabriel Victor – 2019-11-18T22:30:37.610

XHCI hand-off should be enabled, when that setting is off your BIOS never releases ownership of the USB controller to the OS (Windows 10). Then your OS/driver has to manage the USB system through your BIOS, which can only complicate your USB issues. I would turn on XHCI Hand-off, and then reinstall the USB drivers while that setting is enabled to ensure that everything is configured in a non-legacy way. – Romen – 2019-11-18T22:46:55.913

I just found out that this error is common amongst people who own RTX 2060s, apparently the card has a controller but no ports. I've only seen 2 people with this problem and they have the same error but i wonder if my GPU is defective. – Gabriel Victor – 2019-11-19T02:22:52.747

Maybe your RTX 2060 has a VirtualLink capable port on it? That is a video-over-USB standard for VR headsets. – Romen – 2019-11-19T15:34:16.623
