VLC realtime Audio streaming to 3 friends online, can't get it to work?

0

For my roleplaying sessions, I need to live stream background ambient sounds in 320 kbps mp3 stereo, to my 3 players that are in another city on different computers in different local networks (at home behind routers). I use Ableton Live for ambient and sound effects, triggered as the game proceed.

I tried to set up RTP (Real Time Protocol) in VLC, and opened a port in my ASUS router, but it doesn't work. They can connect in their VLC to the stream, but there is no sound.

Does someone know how to set this up on a PC?

You'd probably be better off using some kind of shoutcast server, so you only have to stream once. Sending 3 streams on a domestic connection is probably too much [though you didn't say what speed your connection is, most domestic connections run at a 10:1 ratio, DL speed is 10x the UL speed, meaning that's where you choke.] – Tetsujin – 2019-10-19T10:55:51.640
