I have a HP -Pavillion and the model number is 8OA1. It also has a 1168 BGA socket. The current cpu is a i7. Is it possible to upgrade my cpu. I also plan on upgrading the ram and hard drive to a ssd.

By the time you purchase SSD, Memory and CPU, you could spend as much as a new computer that has been engineered to be faster. Consider that. I would replace here - not upgrade all that. – John – 2019-10-10T12:20:09.083

4An BGA socket means the processor is soldered into the socket. You don’t have the hardware required to remove and install a new processor. If you did have the hardware you would know the answer to this question – Ramhound – 2019-10-10T12:29:06.477

@Ramhound I think you better make that a full answer. You could link to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGnSyQ7erws where someone does a BGA upgrade, clearly showing that it is not for amateurs.

I have done a couple of CPU upgrades - waste of time and money. Does not even apply to you here. 8 GB of memory is usually enough. So here, only the SSD will really show benefit. – John – 2019-10-10T13:11:17.873

@Tonny - I don't link to YouTube videos. If I cannot provide all information in an answer body, I don't answer the question, but there are already several questions that exist with answers with regards to BGA processor upgrades. – Ramhound – 2019-10-10T13:35:27.250

If you have a bga de-soldering machine like the one in this video, then you can....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFwK47eEggA
