I use Okular in Ubuntu while reading pdfs to add or edit annotations. It lets you highlight text and add pop-up notes associated with the highlighted text. I think this is common functionality available in many pdf readers.
You usually view these notes by clicking on the highlight / underline and it displays it in a pop-up.
I wanted to know if there is a way (in Okular or any other reader) to display the notes you're making right next to the line where you've made the note, perhaps in the gutter at left / right of the displayed pdf page.
An illustration:
| pdf file |
left | | right
gutter | some text | gutter
| some more text | _______________________________
| s͟o͟m͟e͟t͟h͟i͟n͟g͟ ͟u͟n͟d͟e͟r͟l͟i͟n͟e͟d͟ | | Note related to the underline |
| some more text | ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾

I'm using Ubuntu, but any reader on any platform which does this would be a good start to find similar functionality in other readers – Peeyush Kushwaha – 2019-10-01T00:37:39.517
