Unable do decrypt self-sent S/MIME mail

0

I have installed S/MIME certificates for one of my email accounts in Thunderbird 60.9.0 (32 Bit). I can send signed emails with the one certificate that is selected for signing and encryption.

I send the mail to individuals the individual S/MIMI certificate of that individual. Additionally the mail is sent using CC: to a mail account support.account@foo.com that distributes the mail to several people, including me. For that purpose we have installed the certificate of the support mail address.

Now I have the result that I can encrypt the mail with the certificate but Thunderbird is unable to decrypt the very same mail.

  • What can be a problem for that certificate and how can I identify this?
  • Can it be a problem that the certificate was issued for Microsoft Outlook and has probably a problem with Thunderbird (or has Thunderbird a problem with the cert)?
