Linux for touch screen laptops

0

I have touch screen laptop. It has keyboard to. It seems that Linux can handle this hardware, but I have some troubles.

  1. I found that only GNOME 3 desktop environment handle touch screens correctly. Am I right?

  2. When I start gedit, the virtual keyboard appears automatically. It is correct. But, if I start FireFox or Brave, then virtual keyboard does not appear. Moreover, I did not found how to show virtual keyboard manually. Two solutions are acceptable for me:

a) Automatic appearing virtual keyboard for all programs (if such solution is possible).

b) Possibility to show and close virtual keyboard manually.

How to do either a) or b)?

  1. When i fold physical keyboard and it is behind physical display, the laptop have to be in tablet mode. Then physical keyboard have to be inactive, but it is not. How to fix it.

I have the following needs:

A) Proper rotating screen when I rotate device and physical keyboard is folded up behind physical display.

B) When I fold up physical keyboard behind physical display, then physical keyboard have to be disabled, and when I return physical keyboard in position for laptop mode, then physical keyboard have to be enabled.

C) Possibility to show and hide virtual keyboard manually.

I have not much preferences about choice of Linux distribution and desktop environment about this laptop. I have not data on device yet and new clean install of system is not problem.

I do not plan to start flame about distributions and desktop environments, bit if somebody know how to fit A), B) and C) by some combination of distribution and desktop environment, then I am ready to install it.
