Dilbert.com daily strip RSS jumps around when loading through Thunderbird

This is more of an annoyance than an actual problem, but my usual methods of triage and web developer debugging have failed me.

When loading the Dilbert.com daily feed (http://feed.dilbert.com/dilbert/daily_strip) through Thunderbird, after a 2-3 second lag, a large block of phantom white-space appears between the header and the image. This is horribly annoying, as it disrupts reading, and bumps part of the image out of the viewable area of the screen.

Because the problem does not manifest itself on the website in any browser I have tried, using web developer tools to inspect the page has proven fruitless.

I am not using any kind of ad-blocking.

I tried using Fiddler to identify all the third-party websites this feed connects to (there are... many). Adding the entire list to the Windows DNS "hosts" file (which was previously empty) blocked much of the extra content on the page but did not stop the block of phantom white-space from appearing.

What is going on with this?

Pictured below is Thunderbird 52.5.2. However, I also downloaded Thunderbird 60.8.0 today, and the problem is still evident.
