1In general, WOL-capable NICs just scan everywhere in all packets they see for the magic pattern, which is 0xffffffffffff (12 f's like the broadcast MAC address) followed by 16 copies of the NIC's own MAC address. How you create a packet with that contents and get it to the sleeping NIC is up to you. You can certainly put it inside an IPv6 datagram. – Spiff – 2019-08-28T20:12:53.507
