DisplayPort stopped working after kernel update

0

I've been using Linux Mint 9.1 for about 5 months now and haven't had many complaints. I've also been using ukuu to update the kernels because the ones that come bundled with most distros are very old. I had been installing most kernel updates until I got to 5.0.12 and tried to update to 5.0.13. Every single kernel version after (and including) 5.0.13 makes my laptop not recognize the Mini-DisplayPort screen I have at work. I've been installing the newest versions whenever one is released in hopes of this bug being corrected but now the version is 5.1.16 and it still hasn't been fixed!

Can anyone help me make the DP monitor work on the latest kernels? Maybe help me disable any new functionality that's been added on 5.0.13 and that is causing the problem. I can edit the question and provide additional log files as needed.

I want the a newer version than 5.0.12 because Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12130, CVE-2018-12127, CVE-2019-11091 aren't patched until a later version (it's missing the MD_CLEAR mitigation). I use this tool to check the vulnerabilities.
