I have the Apple Printer Services for Windows installed on a Windows 7 PC, which adds mDNS (aka Bonjour) name look-up support. So I can access computers on the .local domain, eg craig.local.. However, it seems very slow, usually taking somewhere between 3 to 6 seconds to do a name look-up.
In comparison, on a Linux machine, mDNS name look-ups are much quicker, probably less than 200 ms, even for a Linux virtual machine running on the Windows PC.
Why would mDNS name look-ups be so slow on Windows? Is there any configuration change I can make to make it faster?
