mpv freezes when playing "corrupt" file

Question

I'm trying to play an mkv video file with mpv 0.29.1 and it works fine until it simply freezes.
Checking the log reveals the following line:

[e][mkv] Corrupt file detected. Trying to resync starting from position

I tried setting vd-lavc-show-all=yes in the mpv config file to show corrupt frames as well but it still freezes.

Is there a way to skip or show corrupt frames or maybe some other way to play files it recognizes as "corrupt"?
