Earphone-microphone combo for TWO applications concurrently?

1

Windows 10: If I use the earphones of an earphone-microphone combo for listening to audio notes (.mp3 on my pc) from a transcription software, can I use the micro of the same combo to dictate into dictation software (Nuance Dragon, since there isn't any other available, will have to buy it for this purpose) on the same pc?

In other words, the earphones from that combi (which I would have to buy, too) would play the sound from the transcription application, the micro (of the combo) would take my voice as input of the dictation application.

Are there possible problems with the combo? Must I pay attention to some feature of the combo, in order for this scenario to work? Possible electronics problems, or physical problems, with the plugs? (Separate plugs for the earplugs part, and for the micro part, instead of a combined plug?)

Are there possible problems with the sound card? What feature of the sound card (which I also will have to buy, my current one being too basic) will assure that the soundcard is able to process output for one application, and input for another application, concurrently (and with the same combo)?

(I do NOT want to use a dictation program for processing my .mp3 voice files directly, since my voice notes are talked off the top of my head (and often have too much ambient noise anyway), and in front of the pc, I want to "transcribe" them into something more concise.)
