I had readyboost set up for my 16GB USB stick and I took it out becaue windows was spamming the USB dissconected sound. When I plugged it in again, i got a pop-up saying 'can't use this disk until formatted' or something like. I can't format it as it's write-protected. I was unable to format it on other computers. I also tried 3rd party software, diskpart and registry editor to fix it but none worked. Is it completely useless now? Also, it's 'Current Read-Only State' is Yes while 'Read-Only' is No.
Are you are saying that the drive was constantly connecting and disconnecting (spamming…)? If so, I suspect the drive has died. Flash drives do have limited life. How long have you been using it this way? – uSlackr – 2019-04-26T20:50:04.313
1Sounds like the device simply failed, which is the reason it was being disconnected continuously, ReadyBoost is unlikely the cause of the failure though. – Ramhound – 2019-04-26T21:27:31.003
Have you tried deleting the partition label with diskpart? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/diskpart https://neosmart.net/wiki/diskpart/

@K7AAY i tried using 3rd party software for partition formatting and i tried using the 'attributes disk clear readonly ' syntax but it didn't work. – Spezik – 2019-04-27T08:43:39.667
