On my HP Probook 650 G1 some of the F1 - F12 keys have special functions like changing the volume/brightness, etc. I changed my BIOS settings so that I don't need to press the fn key to use those options, but now the esc key also only works when I press fn + esc. Is it possible to leave the F1 - F12 keys like this but still use the esc key without pressing fn?
1Not likely. The settings that are usually available will be to set all of the keys one way or the other. I have not personally seen any utilities that allow per-key settings. If such a setting existed, it would be available in either the BIOS or the Fn key utility HP offers. I suppose there's also a chance that you could use a tool such as AutoHotKey, but because the Fn key switch is usually at the hardware level, I'm not certain that would work. – music2myear – 2019-04-26T16:13:35.860
Personal experience, but I have never seen an instance where an Fn key was detectable with AutoHotkey. – Anaksunaman – 2019-04-27T04:38:28.720
