My browsing and other 'internet' activity (dropbox,digsby etc) halts when I connect to a VPN session using Cisco Systems VPN client Version 5.0.04.0300 on Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit on my Dell XPS M1530.The only option left for me at this time is to use my vpn network proxy to enable the connection back.
I tried doing the ucheck "Use default gateway on remote network" solution as mentioned on a previous post Windows 7 VPN stops web browser but I don't see that option on the properties of "Cisco systems VPN adapter" connection properties.
I have same problem as OP, but on my system all direct Internet connection is gone. Outlook, Firefox, everything. – AndrejaKo – 2010-07-28T10:08:34.520
1@AndrejaKo: In your case the Cisco VPN client maybe creates a compulsory tunnel. The type of the tunnel is dictated by the admin of the VPN server to which you connect. Compulsory tunnel will cut off any other access to any external computer, including the LAN. – harrymc – 2010-07-28T10:46:00.903
@harrymc But I can use connect to computer on the LAN with no problems. Anyway, could you post a link to some documentation about that? Company's IT staff has no idea how to disable this behavior and it is seriously decreasing productivity. – AndrejaKo – 2010-07-28T12:42:41.857
@harrymc: I use Shrewsoft's VPN client, not a Cisco client, any idea on how I turn off the use default gateway option ? – Sathyajith Bhat – 2010-07-28T16:06:24.157
1@AndrejaKo: The Cisco doc is probably named "Allow Split Tunneling for VPN Clients on your-cisco-model". Call Cisco support if the IT staff can't find it. – harrymc – 2010-07-28T18:00:39.093
@Sathya: Sorry, can't help on Shrew Soft. – harrymc – 2010-07-28T18:02:27.670
Alright @harry no probs – Sathyajith Bhat – 2010-07-29T00:46:25.947
