I have been tasked with updating a Dell PowerEdge R730xd server to a two processor unit, it currently has one processor (Intel Xeon CPU E5-2640) and I will be adding two Intel Xeon E5-2630 V4. The machine is currently running our SAP HANA database which runs on SuSe Linux Enterprise Server 11 x64 operating system. It is a vital machine to this company, everything is backed up just in case.
Besides evening out the RAM distribution between processors, is there anything I might be missing that I should worry about? I am not very familiar with the Linux OS and kernel and I need this to be a smooth transition.
