When I have windows 10 virtualbox running, and the Linux host goes idle and activates the screensaver, and then shortly after turns off the monitors, upon returning to the computer, it is completely 100% frozen.
No keys respond, ctrl+alt+f1 to access the base terminal doesn't work, absolutely nothing. Forced to do a hard reboot. This happens every time consistently.
Windows 10 settings:
- Screensaver on : disabled.
- Turn hard drives off after: never
- Turn display off after: never
powercfg /a
returns this:
The following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Standby (S3)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Hibernate
The system firmware does not support hibernation.
Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Hybrid Sleep
Standby (S3) is not available.
Hibernation is not available.
Fast Startup
Hibernation is not available.
It appears all possible settins relating to windows changing upon idle are disabled.
Linux Mint settings:
- Turn screen off when inactive for: 15 minutes
- Suspend when inactive for: never
So, neither system is set to suspend or hibernate.
Is this a bug with virtualbox windows guest / linux host?
