Edit Register on Windows 10

I have a USB drive that can't be seen in Explorer. Computer is a desktop running Windows10 Home. Acting on the advice given in Not able to see my hard drive in windows explorer? I exported the registry while the mouse was highlighting {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class I deleted 'UpperFilters' and since it didn't make any difference I decided to roll back by importing my saved registry but my deleted key was not returned. Looking at the saved registry it was only 1.46KB, and not the usual approx 0.5GB. The questions is how can I restore the UpperFilters key ? I looked at another Windows10 Home computer and it hasn't got the UpperFilters key. Since the original post I have repeated the export registry while a key is highlighted. This time the file size is 3.KB. I then clicked on 'Computer' in the Registry Editor and exported to produce a 532MB file. There should be a warning about this.

It's unclear what you're looking at, what you have tried and what you problem is. Describe what you did and what's confusing you and why. – Seth – 2019-02-22T11:44:01.497

"only saved the key that was highlighted" Which one was that? – Moab – 2019-02-22T13:32:13.103

It is not clear what you have done. Is this just a standard entry, how about exporting the missing entries from another Windows 10 Home PC, and recreating them/ importing them manually. Careful with the registry! – Under A Tree – 2019-05-05T07:14:33.943
