I have a Wacom Intuos cHT-480, I have had it for years, and up to a few months I did not have any problem with it.
I have an old laptop that has Linux Mint 18 on it, and a PC that has both Win10 and Linux Mint 18. Under windows I haven't detected any issues so far, however both with my PC and my laptop, when I use Linux, the tablet goes mad It detects hovering as touch. I lift my pen after taking a stroke and the tablet detects it. I tried to play around with sensitivity setting in both the program and in the driver, but it doesn't seem to help.
On Linux I mainly use Krita, because that is the only program that has the range of features I need.
I am sad, because the main reason I put Linux on my computer so I can do art and keep my important documents on that side. I am putting my problem out there so maybe others, who have similar issues can find it.
1Are you sure the tablet is in pen mode, and not touch mode? – anders – 2018-08-29T13:48:05.960
