Memory compatibility check

1

I'm hoping to upgrade my ASUS X550LC laptop with an additional memory.

As possible upgrades for my laptop I got suggestions by crucial software here. For compatible memory it shows only 8 GB memory sticks; one can be found here .

How can I find if this 4 GB memory here is compatible to my laptop?

Thanks in advance.

How much memory do your currently have? Your machine has 4 GB soldered and a single DDR3 module. Why don’t you want to upgrade to 8 GB thus having 12 GB? – Ramhound – 2018-03-28T11:20:10.497

That 4GB SODIMM has the same general specs and should work, but as Ramhound suggests, why not just go to 8GB? You can never have too much RAM. If you decide you want to upgrade again later, you can't add another 4GB SODIMM, so you'd need to replace it with an 8GB. – essjae – 2018-03-28T17:11:45.280

@Ramhound, essjae thak you for the response, The reason why I'm not going to buy 8 GB one is, since it's DDR3, with assumption that it would not be compatible with new laptops hence, spending much on that wouldn't be useful and additional 4GB ram (with current memory - 4 GB) would be enough for general purposes. Any comment on this would also be appreciated – Refiner – 2018-03-28T17:14:58.110

@Infoholic - Any incompatibility issues you would have for an 8 GB would exist for a 4 GB module. Your explanation doesn't really seem to be a legitmant reason – Ramhound – 2018-03-28T17:30:03.727

@Ramhound my idea was since anyway it's going to be incompatible, buying 4 GB would be cost effective and that would be enough for general use – Refiner – 2018-03-28T17:45:10.497

If any of you can provide these as answer I can accept it – Refiner – 2018-03-28T18:12:56.940
