I have been trying to split the bar code data from a Honeywell bar code scanner into two different computers for different purposes. Bar code output through 9-pin serial port. One input to desktop with a 9-pin outlet and another input to a laptop with a 15-pin outlet. Tried to directly hook them up with general Y connectors, But would not work. Thank you for your help.

15 pin is usually video, are you certain you are dealing with a serial port at the second laptop? – fred_dot_u – 2018-03-21T19:48:35.607
