I have some MP4s I have downloaded they are displayed as having a frame inside a sprocket edged 35mm film cell that is most common on Windows thumbnails for video.
Though there are some that appear just as an image with the assigned program icon in the bottom right (just like some MP3's).
I have downloaded Media Monkey and assigned some artwork to the video file (which has worked) however does not remove the "template" that windows seems to put around the majority of its video files.
Is there anyone out there that can explain why this happens, and what I could do to make all my video files display in the same way - aside from messing with registry - I don't see why this necessary if some of my files are displaying in my preferred method.

Peanut Gallery, but (as far as I know), to get the ones that look like the left to look like the right, most likely you will need to embed cover art for each one that has the "film sprockets" look. Programs such as TagEditor can do this. In general, though, if you Google tools to do this kind of thing, there are a number of them.
