1I removed the unnecessary information. Please provide the make and model of both your hard drive as well as your mainboard. – Daniel B – 2017-11-06T10:01:03.657

If you want to discuss the NSA invading your hard disk firmware, we have [skeptics.se] or perhaps [security.se]. Although the latter probably won’t accept it either. Having it in the question will absolutely result in unnecessary downvotes and people ignoring the actual question. // How old is the SATA cable between mainboard and hard drive? Is it properly seated on either end? – Daniel B – 2017-11-06T18:09:07.953
