Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 stuck at 88 percent

2

I'm currently upgrading my Windows 7 to Windows 10. The update is stuck at 88% Picture.

It has been for more than 12 hours. I assume it is frozen for some reason. Any ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.

1I once read an anecdote that you might find interesting: A doctor visited a patient at home. He needed to go fetch something and told the patient not to leave the bed until he comes back. The doctor had an accident and never came back. The patient never got out of the bed. (You get it? No? When your computer had been in that state for 2 hours, assume it is stuck.) – None – 2017-05-09T07:39:09.707

Thanks for the sarcastic answer. But it was not my question if the computer is stuck, question is why? Or how to fix it. – Myron – 2017-05-09T07:48:22.617

Not sarcastic at all. It was anecdotal. (Sarcastic would be: "You should have left it on for 48 more hours to be sure.") – None – 2017-05-09T08:22:16.657

Update: When I came home, the laptop was still frozen at 88 percent. I forced the laptop to turn off and rebooted afterwards. Luckily it restored itself to the previous windows without any errors.

What happened is that I wanted to install windows 10 by using window 10-upgradeassistant. This program also got stuck on 99 percent and therefore I forced quit the program and then with a reboot i wanted to check if i could install windows 10 via this programm again by following one of the search options found here: google search page.
But instead of being able to do that it installed windows 10 until it got stuck at 88%.

For the people who got stuck doing the same steps as i did, just force quit the laptop/desktop pc and reboot. Hope this helps other unfortunate souls :).

1Sorry for the inconvenience but english is not my main language. So I did try my best did I? At least you've understood what I wrote there right? Also you could edit my post if it troubles you. – Myron – 2017-05-09T17:39:23.283

There are numerous websites that can do that for you. – Ramhound – 2017-05-09T17:42:20.267
