Can DDR4 RAM modules be installed in DDR3L slots in laptops?

-2

Most of the skylake laptops (i3 6100U or i5 6200U) are bundled with DDR3L RAM. My question is can we replace them with DDR4 Laptop RAM modules?

Skylake processors support DDR4 RAM but I am worried about the OEM laptop motherboards which come with DDR3L laptop ram slots will be able to support DDR4 RAM modules or not.

No; DDR4 has different pin layouts and are different sizes (physical) and have different power requirements. Those motherboards that support both have both DDR3 and DDR4 module slots – Ramhound – 2016-10-11T21:00:51.900

Generally, you can't put in DDR3L if the motherboard expects DDR4. You need to check the specifications for the particular laptop you're interested in to find out what type of memory it uses.
