Windows Updates

0

I have a Windows 7 64 bit machine; since a few weeks I cannot get windows updates. The service just spins. I have done my research and used all the information that I could find on the subject to no avail. BITS is running the dependent modules are loaded. The problem that I have found is that I cannot register qmgr.dll I keep getting an error message "qmgr.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point cannot be found. I have researched this problem too but again none of the proposed solutions works. A promising blog (http://www.microsoft-questions.com/microsoft/Windows-Update/30367697/cannot-register-regsvr32-qmgrdll.aspx) has expired links. I was ready to do a restore only to find out that this option had not been enabled on my PC; hence, I have no restore point (I turned the service on). Any ideas on how to solve this? Many thanks in advance. Filiep

Use something like WSUS eliminate windows update until you have the required updates that fix it – Ramhound – 2016-09-22T23:06:21.320

Install the July 2016 update rollup, reboot and now Windows is fast again to detect updates – magicandre1981 – 2016-09-23T16:57:39.697

Thank you both for your reply. How does a server update assist me with a PC update? What is the July 2016 rollup. Could you point me toward the relevant website. Thank you. Filiep – Filiep Samyn – 2016-09-25T17:44:45.603

In my answer in the duplicate link I posted the kb article and download link. The rollup is for Win 7 Sp1 and Server 2008 R2 Sp1 – magicandre1981 – 2016-09-27T16:44:15.830
