Restoring a Windows registry backup in another hdd

0

I've messed up my Windows registry but I have a backup from that section (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/ProfileList). Turns out I cant boot Windows nor a repair CD from this HDD but I have access to another PC where I can connection the "broken" hard drive. How do i restore the backup in the "broken" hard drive (wothout Messing around with the registry in the "working" HDD)?

1Registry Editor allow you you to load the Hive from another machine. Its located within System32/config on the system drive. You can use this ability to modify the key by hand. – Ramhound – 2016-05-17T16:22:37.250

Yes, but how do I "copy" the backup file to where I need it? – Caio Jiaco – 2016-05-17T16:49:48.180

Or what exactly do I have to do to modify it? – Caio Jiaco – 2016-05-17T17:22:19.977

You load the hive; you make the changes you want; then you save the hive. – Ramhound – 2016-05-17T18:10:07.917
