Disabling spotlight indexing email attachments - El Capitan

3

I have just purchased a MacBook Air and I have set up 2 email accounts and have been playing around with spotlight. I tried using features like typing "documents I worked on today" but it came up with all the email attachments from accounts I set up today.

I went to system preferences to try and disable the mail attachments folder but when I went to it came up with an error;

If you exclude this location from Spotlight searches, the search feature won't work in some applications.

I'm assuming this means that this message means the search within mail won't work. Is there any way to get around this? I don't want it searching my mail in spotlight but I don't want to stop my search from within mail working.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
