Starting today, in the root directory of the FTP there will be a DOS generated
listing of all the files on the FTP. It is presented in alphabetical order starting
with the listings of subdirectories(and subdirectories within) followed by a
file listing. This is a function of the '/S' of the DIR command. This will be
done once a week.
The name of the text file is FILELIST.TXT in the FTP's root.

Nice! This will make it much easier to find things. Good work on doing that.

Using the generated file list I'm uploading to my website. Although far from
done, I've tested the download speed from the site. I've clocked over
1 MEGABYTE per second so far. Once operational, the site will provide an
extremely fast download capability for dsl/cable/t# line users. The FTP file
listing will still be generated once a week.

Quick question: Is there a way to make a text file uploaded with the content file (either inside or outside the archive) to organize & describe the file per se'? As with a torrent, there exists a little text file that explains the contents. Is there or could there be a method other than describing in depth what the file is in the name, a method of in depth description?
Let's say one uploads a file that has a name that generally describes the contents (PATR_djvu.rar) but inside has a text file that states "PATR2700 from 1971 in DJVU format w/ reader as plug-in"....Is there a method that allows the user to access that file, etc? Is this too much of a hassle or unworkable? The reason of course is to make life easier for both the admin and the user to discriminate what they would be working with. In other words to piggy-back on the FILELIST.TXT...
