I was at Wally-Mart yesterday and saw an 8oz bottle of humidifier cleaner for $1.8 that contains a solution of citric acid and detergent. Could be used for making HMTD.
I don't the the presence of a detergent would have any effect on the final product since it would be rinsed out in the final step.
Also, there were quart bottles of dilute sulfuric acid for like $3 for descaling humidifiers.

Maybe u can seperate the detergent
Dry the solution and mix it with some oil and rince it out with alcohol or something.
Actually the detergent shouldn't react as it is a a salt of a fatty acid or similar. Should be inert towards peroxidation reaction.

You can get it from bakeing shops, for sour dough. Every store I went to didnt have it, but I asked at the pharmacy and they asked me what I was useing it for and I said bakeing and they said they could order it. But I found it cheaper at king arthurs bakeing shop online.

I wouldn't say it's a bad price to pay, mine costs me £0.69 for a 50g tub from the brewing department of Wilko's.
As a side note, does anyone know what a "code 100" is in Wilko's? Every time I'm in there reading labels they always announce one to all staff over the tannoy.

I buy my Citric Acid from a health food store, 500grams costs 2-3 dollars. They never ask questions but if they did I would say that I mix one or two table spoons full of citric acid to a liter of water, and use it to clean grease of my oven and to remove stickers or sticky labels from delicate surfaces without using toxic cleaning products.

You can wash it with alcohol after water. But why would you want to? Water is enough.

I always wash my HMTD/AP with Methanol. It improves the drying process tenfold and seems to help it burn faster too (after washing with water and drying 20g in the open just makes a "fwoosh" but after washing with methanol and drying it makes a bang)

whatzz the wal-markt? everybody talks about it...
but anyway how expensive was it?
and how pure?
oh yeah about HMTD:
i think that washing HMTD only with water is not enough for safe results, i have heard that you can also wash it in a soda bicarbonate bad...

I once made HMTD with "Country Time" lemonade mix (totally synthetic). The final product had a little sugar left in it which desensitized it a bit. It detonated just fine in a cap. It was also probably less dangerous to compress. Lemon coolaid would probably work the same.
