Here is a post on a fireworks forum with nice clear photos, of some one who
although he is full trained, ignored his own common sense.
Heavy fire coat, face mask, the whole shebang of saftey gear but choose not to wear his fire gloves.
His safety equipment helped, but he was not wearing proper gloves, so an accident with flash did a number on his hands.
Nasty Burns.
For those that are so inclined you may be interested in also joining this pyrotechnics site.

Ouch...but it could have been a LOT worse. To be honest, I'd consider gloves to be far more important than a massive helmet- safety glasses would probably have done the job, right?

Considering how burnt the visor was, I'd say safety-glasses wouldn't have done shit to prevent his face from being burnt to a similiar crispiness as his hands, and the intense heat-flux likely would have burned his eyes as well. :(
Would you rather have burnt hands, or a face like Freddy Kruger?

I'm so scared right now guys. I'm never touching anything explosive again.

Match, by his own admission, the problem was lack of safety.
Personally, I think he's damn lucky that's all that happened.
It could have been much worse.

This guy got off pretty easy Match. He still has use of all body parts and has no trouble with the law.
He was stupid for placing another device where one had been sett off so recently.

Hey Match, that guy got off relatively easy. Take a look at this (from stupid939's site- I don't know where he got them): http://members.shaw.ca/gryphon223/consequences.html

I think its good to see pictures like that every now and then, because it reminds you in a very graphic way, what can happed to you if you become careless in this hobby.
Those pictures in the link Cobalt.45 provided slightly put me off working with explosives a bit, but from now on when I do use explosives I will be very, very careful.

Ouch, that looks painful. I feel sorry for the guy.
I had to laugh a little though about his comment "good thing I had a permit, comes in handy at the hospital." And the Bomb Squad T-shirt, that was good.

I just saw this post and was going to post the link that Cobalt45 provided. The last one is the worst. Just read what he did, I stopped making pipe bombs a long time ago, and you will see why.
BTW Cobalt, I saw the link on some fireworks site.

He complains about the difficulty of typing with only 2 thumbs at the end of his post...
How many thumbs did he have to begin with? :p

Yeah, but what would rather lose all your limbs and functioning for the rest of your life, or be blown into lots of tiny pieces? :p

He was high on stupid, I guess. Of course there is no law against stupid.

I was working in an electrical meter base in May of '06, removing hot wires from a distribution block. I hadn't killed any power because it was at a casino and they threw a fucking fit everytime power was disturbed. I was halfway done when my helper said something to me. I turned to look at him and my screwdriver that was touching a hot phase bumped the ground. The arc flash went across all the phases and the ground. I had 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns on my hands and arms. These are just a couple of the pictures.

Ha I saw the post referenced by the victim on lockpicking 101. (he is a member on that site too...) Guess he wont be picking locks for a while...
Either way I'd rather be blown up than burned looks worse but looks less painful at the same time.
