just thought i mnight let everyone know, you can buy 7 litres of 60% H2O2 for $30(au)
you buy it at pool stores

the brandname is Ozone Accelerator "pool and spa sanitizer"
its used for non-clorinated pools (usualy when people have sensitive skin)

give me around 15mins and i'll post a picture of the bottle

also, if you plan on buying this stuff, and have never used H2O2 this strong
you MUST wear latex gloves!!(should wear them even with 30%..)

i can not stress just how fucken painfull it is when you get it on your skin, it will send you skin pure white in a matter of seconds, and then it will burn like nothing on earth - at which point your skin turns into a paste and you can wipe you skin off with a rag.

oh, and i remember reading in here you can use another pool chemical called "bacquacil" - don't even bother searching for it. its $120 for 5 litres, and its only 30%

picture coming soon.

i live in au also but iv been getting 50% h2o2 from hydroponic shops.i know what you mean about getting it on your skin.
Do you dilute the peroxide before you use it?
i have to dilute mine or else the reaction is to fast and it starts getting really hot and then boils over and the heat destroyes the HMTD.

no, so far i haven't diluted it
the reaction is fast as all shit(like..5mins and i've got 200g of AP)
i did notice that it got pretty hot, but if i let it sit in a salt ice bath for a couple of mins before i add the HCI i think it stay below 10 degrees (i broke my thermometer..so i can only guess) if it goes it above 10, it doesn't go far.

i did notice however, that when i add the acetone to the h2o2, it gets warm, now maybe it does it because of the higher concentration of h2o2.
But i still wondered if this was caused by something else mixxed in the with h2o2
because normaly, when i used 10%(peroxide and de-ionised water) h2o2 it never got warm.

hmm..dunno..either way, i'm as happy as a pig in mud cause i got a reliable source of h2o2 now

Sounds awesome! I'll check it out when I go to the pool store tomorrow!

Cruel idea:

Throw a big cup of this on someones clothes in hot weather. Burns like a muthafuker, and then, as it evaporates, it sets their clothes on fire!

Water ballons tossed onto wood roofs if you're a mean pyro.

Wonder what you could do with peroxide ice cubes?

The 12% hair bleach peroxide also burns the skin, though it takes a few moments to do it.

Can you completly burn off the print? THAT'D be useful!

I also saw big bags of citric acid in the pool section at bunnings!

NSW

it was really weird, cause i was looking for bacquacil, but i couldn't find it (and when i did later on it was $120 for 5l - even so, bacquacil doesn't even contain H202 anyway)

in my quest for bacquacil a mate who uses bacquacil in his pool said "hey, i got this other stuff called bacqua-shock" and that had 30% h2o2.
So i thought sweet! finally found some, so i rang a local pool shop, asked for bacqua-shock and the guy at the shop asked why i wanted it, so i told it was for a non-clorine pool system and he goes "so your looking for hydrogen peroxide?" and at first i wasn't to sure how to answer, because i thought he might "be on to me" so to speak so i just said "yeah..i've got sensitive skin" and blamo, he says he can sell me 60% for $30

Hey, are you sure it doesn't say "60 volume hydrogen peroxide"?! Because that's only 20%.

598g/l hydrogen peroxide

thus, 59.8% hydrogen peroxide (round figures: 60%)

i think the reason it gets warm when you add the acetone is because the reaction takes place without the acid catalyst at higher concentrations.

yeah i thought that could be a possiblity

The first part of the reaction occurs without the need for catalysis. The condensation of this intermediate into AP needs H+.
