First, you will need to investigate the death records from a local library. You will need to find someone who has died before the age of one.

Then, you will need to order a Social Security card, it's a little bit tricky.

Now, you can head on over to your local DMV and legally obtain your ID or license. Use them to get your passport or whatever. Once again. having a false ID and the process of obtaining one, are both illegal.

Even more sad than that is the fact that this is no longer possible. Social Security numbers are and have been issued at birth of a child for several years. This used to work when they were only issued when the child became a juvenile, upon request, I believe.

Even if this was not the case, all of the United States now report to a federal database ALL DMV records. This including issuance, accidents, traffic violations, suspensions, ect. Most states also require fingerprinting prior to license, now, and most adult whether convicts or not have already been permanantly identified as themselves.

Another note, most states also require (besides the birth certificate and SS card) two forms of alternate ID. Usually this can be certified mail bearing your new assumed name and address.

Oh, I do bid you good luck on this venture of a new identity, my friend. I'm in no way stating that it's not possible, merely to try a different approach. It simply isn't that easy anymore. :(

Yes this used to work, but the government managed to fix that little problem. I can remember looking into this and reading that drivers liscences/ ID cards are now cross referenced with death records. Im not sure how accurate the source was, but it seems like this new fad of identity theft might just work better.

This method does work in the UK because no one in births, deaths and marriges section has bothered to invest in a $2 stamp to detirmine whether its a Duplicate or not.
They also don't seem to cross reference with death records to my knowledge.
