University of South Los Angeles

The University of South Los Angeles (formerly Life University[note 1]) is a fundie school located in Los Angeles, California.[1] The school is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools.[2] There is an actual campus with actual staff. While the university is hyper-religious, there is an odd mixture of Christianity with oriental medicine. The University of South Los Angeles is located in the Korea Town section of LA and has a strong focus on Korean/Korean American students.[1]

Academics

UoSLA is divided into School of Business and Management, School of Theology, School of Languages and School of Oriental Medicine.[1] The state of California authorized the university to offer bachelors up to doctoral degrees. All degrees are claimed to be research-based.[1]

The School of Business offers an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in accounting along with a bachelors through doctorate in business administration (BBA, MBA, DBA).

English as a Second Language (ESL) is a certificate program with three types of certificates.

Like any fundie school, there are theology degrees. As stated before this school focuses on students of Korean descent. Why is this mentioned again? Because there are courses in Korean church development. Degrees include a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in theology, a Master of Divinity (MDiv), a Master of Theology (ThM), a Doctorate of Ministry (DMin) and a Doctorate of Theology (ThD). The purpose of these degrees usually involves ordination as a pastor, evangelism and religious education.

Last up is a masters and doctorate in oriental medicine (OMM, OMD) from the School of Oriental Medicine. The School of Oriental Medicine is what really sets the University of South Los Angeles apart from most fundie schools. Very few fundie schools actually offer alternative medicine degrees due to many having New Age philosophy behind them.

The school describes themselves as being:

University of South Los Angeles is a world class private university. A global center for languages, medicine, theology, and business management, the University enrolls students from around the world and offers extensive opportunities for internships, distance learning, and directed independent study. With a strong tradition of integrating theoretical and professional education, University of South Los Angeles fosters a vibrant culture of public service and encourages students to cross academic as well as geographic boundaries in their pursuit of knowledge.
