New Eden School of Natural Health

The New Eden School of Natural Health and Herbal Studies is a Fundie school promoting alternative medicine and naturopathy as an alternative to getting real medical attention. Based out of South Bend, Indiana, the entirety of the school is online-based.[1]

Academics

In place of teachers and professors, you get a bunch of books that are way too expensive. When you order a book, you also get the final exam by mail. All exams are open book, meaning you can page through everything and not have to remember anything. A lot of the courses are strange, including Practical iridology, which is pseudoscientific woo that claims you can see how healthy someone is by looking at their eyeball.[2]

The other courses aren't that good either. For example, there is one that uses a book called 21 Reasons NOT to get Vaccinated as a credible source.[3] Another course is about "Herbal First Aid",[4] and one in "Reflexive Foot Analysis", in which the “fine lines, markings, and discolorations of the soles of the feet” are examined for "the purpose of determining wellness", and a course in Energy Medicine which teaches that a "root cause of disease is due to (sic) information blockages in the energy field.”[5] A heavy promoter of naturopathy,[2] they probably have no trust.

Christian fundamentalist madhouse

Besides the abundance of medical quackery courses, New Eden is ripe with young Earth creationist/Biblical literalist-aimed seminary courses.[6] Programs include but not limited to: Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biblical Wellness (whatever that means) and a "Doctorate of Christian Ministry" (DMin). The most telling piece of rabid Christian fundamentalism is their "Biblical Archaeology" course.[7]

Required textbooks are: Archaeological Evidences Proving the Accuracy of the Bible, by Israelite ministries. Archaeology and the New Testament by Probe Ministries. Dinosaurs and the Bible by Brian Thomas.

Their use of material from the Institute for Creation "Research" further destroys any possible academic credibility.

Affiliations

New Eden has a number of church affiliations and affiliations with sketchy organizations. Its most notable church affiliation is the Aquila Christian Ministries. Aquila Christian Ministries is a young Earth creationist organization based out of Algonquin, Illinois.[8] This church also advertises courses from New Eden [9]
